TDI 2022 Mass Timber Research Symposium

TDI’s 2022 Mass Timber Research Symposium is an opportunity to join TallWood Design Institute and faculty from University of Oregon and Oregon State University to learn about and discuss current and upcoming mass timber research projects. Over twenty mass timber research projects will be reviewed in a high-level, short-duration format.  The four major sessions of the day will include:

  • Structural & Seismic (Innovative lateral systems; mass plywood systems; timber concrete composite systems; water and mass timber)
  • Fire (Timber beam-to-column connections; smoldering behavior of connections; fire protection for construction sequencing; etc.)
  • Design, Sustainability, Building Performance and Human Health (carbon; energy/seismic retrofits; modular affordable housing; acoustics; microbial performance; reuse and circular economy; ponderosa pine)
  • Manufacturing and Supply Chain (Ponderosa pine cont.; global manufacturing trends; termites; Oregon mass timber supply chain)

5:00PM – 7:00PM      Reception at Peavy Forest Science Center and optional tour of the Emmerson Advanced Wood Products Lab

Who Should Attend?

This event is open to the public. The content is geared towards architects, engineers, construction professionals, manufacturers, code officials, developers, researchers, or other stakeholders interested in mass timber and mass timber research.

Registrants will be provided with a parking pass.
