A Summit hosted by TallWood Design Institute and Business Oregon drew 180 participants to Salem Convention Center on January 15th 2019. The day was focused around opportunities, current initiatives and challenges for the state's mass timber sector, which has taken a national lead in the last four years, with two new manufacturing facilities, a host of buildings built and in the design stage, and an enthusiastic cadre of architects, engineers and contractors steadily gaining experience and expertise with mass timber products. Delegates, including several county commissioners, economic development officers and other elected officials and staff, heard from current manufacturers and other specialists on how Oregon can build upon its first-mover status to create growing and sustainable economic development opportunities throughout the state.
