The TallWood Design Institute (TDI) Research Symposium is an annual academia/industry event designed to facilitate a deeper industry understanding of the research and science behind innovative timber building products and construction systems. Research areas covered include structural, seismic, fire, durability, serviceability, acoustics, energy performance, sustainability, human health, and digital design/manufacturing. The research symposium also serves as an opportunity for industry members to weigh in on where they see critical gaps in knowledge and training as pertains to their practice. The Research Symposium will take place in the new A.A. “Red” Emmerson Advanced Wood Products Laboratory, and will be followed by a large open house event focused on demonstrating the lab’s structural testing and advanced manufacturing capabilities.
The format for the symposium will be different this year, as presentations will be divided into four topic areas:
Panel 1: Structural and Seismic
Panel 2: Fire, Water and Serviceability
Panel 3: Design and Human Factors
Panel 4: Economic and Environmental
Who Should Attend?
Architects, engineers, construction professionals, manufacturers, code officials, developers, researchers, or other stakeholders who are interested in mass timber and mass timber research.
A BBQ Lunch will be provided to all attendees of the research symposium, which will be followed up in the afternoon with the TallWood Design Institute Open House and Emmerson Lab Public Opening (1:30 PM - 4:30 PM).
